growing up

the kid: mommy. daddy. you were both very good at open house tonight. I'm very proud of you. when we get home, you'll get a surprise.
me: thank you. we tried not to embarrass you.
the kid: mommy, I knew you wouldn't embarrass me. it's daddy I wasn't too sure about. but daddy, you did a really good job. you're really growing up.
hubby: um, thanks. I think.
