the hubby: oh good! my song!
the kid: no! don't sing, daddy. please!
the hubby: why not? I'm a good singer.
the kid: uh, no. really, daddy. you're not.
the hubby: what?
the kid: I love you. but seriously. no singing.

me: yes, it's one of my favorites.
the kid: can we find it on youtube so we can watch the video and listen to it?
me: you betchya. let's take a look.
the kid: yay! (hops up beside me on the couch and lays his head on my arm as we look it up)

this morning, as I was dropping the kid off at school, he stopped suddenly and stared at my head...

the kid: mommy, your hair is getting blond.
me: it is? 
the kid: yeah. maybe sometimes dark hair starts getting lighter. so maybe you'll be blond some day. 
me: um, okay.
the kid: or maybe you'll be a white girl.
me: I am a white girl. see? white. girl. 
the kid: I mean your hair. I think your hair is starting to get white.
me: um, yeah. thanks. let's get you in to school. love you. buh-bye.

just a minute

watching "minute to win it" on the game show network. the kid is absolutely convinced he can do every one of the stunts "easy peasy". hmmmmm... can a six year old sign up? ;)

God helped me!

the hubby took the kid to get his flu shot today... 

the hubby: did it hurt?
the kid: mm hmmmmm.
the hubby: did you almost cry?
the kid: yeah. almost. but then I asked God to help me not cry, and He helped me. He really helped me.
the hubby: awesome.
the kid: yeah. God is awesome like that.
