it's never too early...

the hubby was being a bit of a goofball and antagonizing the kid...

the kid: daddy, Christmas may be over, but Santa is already working on his list for next year.
the hubby: what?! he is?!
the kid: yes, he is. so you better behave so you don't get on the naughty list already.

morning snow

the kid woke up at 7:30 this morning, ran to the window, looked out, and exclaimed, "YAY! the snow is still here! daddy, can we go out now? please?"

snow praises

the kid: it's snowing!
me: yay! isn't that awesome?!
the kid: yeah! and we need to praise God for it. ♪♫ thank You, God, for the snow! You are awesome and so is the snow. ♪♫

perfect Christmas morning...

the kid actually slept in until 8am... and it would have been later, but I "accidentally" woke him up. once he realized it was morning, it was ON! he went and rousted his daddy out of bed and hurried us into the living room to see what goodies Santa brought. I LOVED seeing his excitement and hearing him exclaim how awesome everything is... except for the clothes. those got tossed aside, but everything else was awesome.

naughty daddy!

the kid and I were in my bedroom with the door locked to wrap a few gifts for the hubby, and the kid had warned him not to try to peek...

the hubby (rattling the doorknob): hey! let me in!
the kid: daddy! I already told you. no trying to come in here. go back in the front room.
the hubby: but ...
the kid: daddy... if you try to come in here, you're gonna end up on the naughty list, and then all this won't matter anyway.
the hubby: oh, sorry. I'll behave.
the kid (to me): what are we gonna do with him?

the cutest mommy

the kid: you're the cutest mommy I ever had.
me: I'm the only mommy you've ever had.
the kid: yeah. but if I had another mommy, you would still be the cutest and best mommy I ever had.

cute girl

the kid: mommy, did you know there's a girl named Alma in my class?
me: there is?
the kid: yep. she's little. and cute. 
me: oh?
the kid: yes. and she has a cute voice. but she doesn't talk much.
me: hmmmm. so I'm guessing you like her?
the kid: yeah. she's my friend. I look out for her because she's little. and cute.

I think we have our first crush. 

lying is naughty!

the kid: daddy, you really need to try to be on the nice list this year.
the hubby: I'm always nice.
the kid: daddy! lying is naughty! try harder, okay?

dunked

me: so you saw a couple of your friends get baptized today, huh?
the kid: yep. it was really cool.
me: so do you know what it was all about?
the kid: yeah. they got Jesus in their hearts, so they got dunked in the water to show everyone how much they love God and Jesus. wouldn't it be awesome if everyone did that?
me: yes. yes, it would.
