the kid: Gracelynn was nice to me today.
me: she was?
the kid: yeah. last year she was mean to me, but now she's being nice to me.
me: that's good. I'm glad she decided to be nice to you.
the kid: me, too. it's because she's older now, you know. we're all older now. you have to be a big kid to be in first grade, you know.
