what happened to "please"?

the kid: mommy, daddy's patting my head.
me: if you want him to stop, ask him to stop.
the kid: daddy, mommy said stop.
hubby: what happened to "please"?
the kid: mommy didn't say please. and if you don't listen to her, you'll be in TIME OUT!!! so BEHAVE!
