stained heart

the kid: Demont told a lie about David today, and it stained my heart. and it made me sad. but then he said he was sorry, so my heart feels better again.

stealing

the kid: daddy! that's my pencil.
the hubby: I know. I borrowed it. 
the kid: no you didn't 'cause you didn't ask.
the hubby: oh.you're right. I'm sorry. next time I'll remember to ask.
the kid: yeah. 'cause it's not nice when you steal things. and when you don't ask, it's stealing. so no more stealing. got it?
the hubby: um, yeah. got it.

grumpy vs. cute

me: I'm sorry I was grumpy.
the kid: that's okay. you weren't very grumpy, and you're cute. when daddy's grumpy, he's not cute.
me: what about you?
the kid: I'm always cute.

keep you forever

the kid: mommy, because I love you very much, there's something I need to give you. (kisses my cheek and rubs it in)
me: awww. thank you, sweetie. I love you very much, too.
the kid: awww, thanks. you're so sweet. I want to keep you forever.

*happy sigh*

good helper

proud mommy moment: went to pick up the kid at school, and his teacher was out today. the substitute told me, "he was so very helpful and such a delight."

you vs yourself

the kid: that wasn't you. it was yourself.
me: huh? 
the kid: mommy, don't be silly.

defining "old"

me: take it easy on me. I'm an old woman.
the kid: you're not old.
me: yes. I really am.
the kid: you can't be old 'cause you're not grandpa.

guess I'll never be old. ;-)
